European consortium MBDA is offering to sell 300 km-range version of the Taurus KEPD 350 (Kinetic Energy Penetration Destroyer) air-launched high precision standoff cruise missile to the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Business development manager of the European consortium MBDA for the missile systems, Anders Axebark has said, "We have received a Request for Information (RFI) from the IAF for a stand-off long range missile from the IAF and we have offered the Taurus missiles as we feel that it meets all the desired requirements."

Indian Air Force is interested in air launched cruise missile which can offer them capabilities similar to that of Pakistani Ra'ad air-launched cruise missile (ALCM) which has range of 350 kilometers.

Taurus KEPD 350 air-launched cruise missile has been developed by the TAURUS Systems GmbH and used by Germany and Spain.

Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missile was developed for the German Air Force's Tornado IDS strike fighters and it can also be used by the Eurofighter Typhoon which has been offered to the Indian air force for its Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) Competition.

European consortium MBDA is also looking for co-development of anti-ship missiles, air-launched and ground launched versions of the missile with DRDO to meet needs of Indian armed forces.
