INS Vikramaditya Aircraft Carrier in Refit Before Delivery

Indian INS Vikramaditya Aircraft Carrier is a refurbished Russian Admiral Gorshkov carrier which is outfitted with the  a full runway,new arrester gear and ski jump at an estimated cost estimates of $2.9 billion.

.The INS Vikramaditya Aircraft Carrier will carry aerial complement of MiG-29K  fighter jets and Ka-31 airborne early warning (AEW) helicopters. India has already purchased 16 MiG-29K (12 MiG-29K, 4 two-seat MiG-29KUB). Agreement for additional 29 MiG-29K/KUB fighter jets for second aircraft carrier and training squadron was signed in January last year.

The INS Vikramaditya will carry 16 MiG-29K/KUB fighter jets , 4 Ka-31 (AEW) helicopters and 4 anti-submarine helicopters .

The Indian Navy will take the delivery of the INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier by December 2012.
