IAF to Deploy Su-30MKI Fighter Jets at Chabua Airbase

Indian air force has deployed the Su-30MKI aircraft at the Chabua airbase to protect the eastern border from China.

First official flight to symbol the deployment was don’t by the Wing Commander K Sundaramani and Flt-Lt MB Walunj of the Indian air force. Many senior officials including Air Chief of the Eastern Air Command were present at this moment.

Air Chief of the Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal Nohwar said that this deployment is to ensure that eastern borders remain safe from any intrusion. 102 Sqn, 14 Wing is the front line defense against enemy air attacks for the India and Su-30MKI deployment will strengthen the air defense in the area.

Currently India plans to induct 270 Su-30MKI fighter jets most of which are being produced at HAL under license.

This airbase was constructed in 1939 and was extensively used for attacks against the Japan. Indian air force started the operations in 1962 to counter the Chinese incursion on Tibet.
