Indian Navy Commissions INS Makar Catamaran Survey Ship

Indian Navy has commissioned  indigenously built INS Makar catamaran hydrographic survey vessel into its fleet. The INS Makar catamaran hydrographic survey vessel  has been built by Alcock Ashdown Gujarat Ltd for undertaking hydrographic surveys.

The  INS Makar is powered by by four Cummins engines as well as two bow thrusters. INS Makar carries 2 survey motor boats, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), Advanced Electronic Positioning System, Multibeam Swath Sounding Systems and Sub Bottom Profiler.
