United States Stunned by Elimination of US Fighter from MMRCA Race

United States considers the elimination of the US fighter jets from the Indian MMRCA race as a serious setback to its efforts to forge defense industry links with India. Indian air force has eliminated US F/A-18IN and F-16 IN from the MMRCA competition to supply India with 126 fighter aircrafts.

US ambassador, Timothy Roemer has said that U.S. was "deeply disappointed" from the Indian decision and after few hours of making the statement he has from the post.

Two European aircrafts Eurofighter and Rafale were selected as finalists for the MMRCA contract.

This elimination is considered by many as failure to acknowledge the efforts made by the USA to supply Indian with fighter jets with advance technology. President Obama himself lobbied senior Indian official during his visit to India last year.
